You know you are an exchange student when you have those moments after returning home when all you can do is regret every day that you stayed locked up with the computer, or feeling bored when you should have just gone out and done something with anyone who would do something. Those moments when you think "How can I go from the ACTUAL real world back into this boring, mundane meaningless life I ha...ve?" When you realize that one year has given you the outlook that life is an undeniable beauty that should be enjoyed to the fullest, but you are so afraid of falling back into you were before exchange. Those moments when you think back to the airport in your last moments in your host country when your new life that you constructed by error, joy, and so many memories begins to fall to pieces as you walk away after hugging your host family and friends for the last time and you cannot look back because you're already blinded by tears. Those moments where you don't feel at home in your birth country and you just wonder what's going on in your other home. Those moments when you just want to have another dream in your other language, but you cannot no matter how hard you try. Those moments when you realize that you cannot ever truly go back. Those moments when you realize that exchange is the worst thing you could have ever done to yourself, but by far it is also the best! :)
